8 Christians are facing execution for their religion
Christians and other minorities in Iran are not allowed to practice their religion publicly or freely as it is considered by the regime an attack on Islam and the nation. In many cases it is dealt with intimidation, blacklisting, fines, jail or even capital punishment. As of today Sharia judges are still instructed by the religious extremist leaders and prosecutors to charge and punish whoever poses threat to their religion or regime. There are various limitations on church and other services in Iran. These restrictions made the christian community shrink by fleeing, disappearance or conversion and only about 30,000 Assyrians are left in the country.
Iran’s Intelligence Ministry raided at least eight Iranians converts to Christianity on July while bringing them to solitary confinement while under process. This act is a measure to intimidate others from considering leaving Sharia law while threatening others to convert to islam through means of political, social or financial pressure . Under Iranian shari’a law converting from Islam to other religions or arguing for it might be punishable by death.
Religious minorities, such as Sunni Muslims and Sufis, as well as Bahai’s, Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians, faced the brunt of government and societal discrimination. The government also reportedly executed dissidents, political reformers and peaceful protestors for “moharebeh”
